So, as we develop this beast of a project, there are some questions that we are faced with... We would like some community input.

Ever since the beginning of deviantART, users have been fighting to get their emoticons added into deviantART's Emoticon Legend.

It's always been up to the administrators to make the final call. Well, we're fixing that.

The Legend Changes
deviantART is transforming the Emoticon Legend into the Emoticon Dictionary, an amazing dynamic platform open to everyone. This Dictionary will have many words, and they're going to need to be defined with emoticons. That's right, any word can be defined as an emoticon, becoming available to the community. If the community doesn't like it, they'll remove it. Ever wonder why the emote is octagon shaped? You're not the only one. Once the Dictionary opens, it will change, and challengers will appear. By doing this, it will be one of the most epic on-going contest deviantART's seen...and the best part? It's completely 100% moderated by the community.

Browsing
Everyone uses . It's a popular emoticon, but just how popular? Well the Emoticon Dictionary will show you how the community is reacting to emoticons, which ones are big hits, and which ones have just been added. And of course, you'll be able to browse the Dictionary alphabetically--duh! These browse pages will knock your socks off!

You Define Your Emotions
Each colon code will have a page that displays the current emoticon and every challenger. Perhaps the community likes one of them better than the current. The community can change that by using the Dictionary's rating system. After all, this is your Dictionary, you choose how emotions should be defined.

Soon, emoticons will be in your hands.

While I do apologize for you guys waiting FAR too long for updates, I can say it will be worth the wait. Promise.

In my journal, I'm collecting ideas/concepts/mock-ups/anything you got. This is important. Why? Sorry, but I can't say.

Ok seriously. This is the last call, and I'm only doing this because I'm swamped with schoolwork and want to give you some more time before I start compiling my list to hand off to Richard, who will get $chris on it.

You have until Friday, January 18th @ 11:59pm PST to link any last emotes that you scrambled to revamp.

After then, I will be collecting a list and running it by some people....and will be passing the list off to for implementation. We should have the revamps live in about 2 or so weeks. Excited? I'd hope so.
